Project Overview

This bespoke swimming pool project focused on simplicity and modern design. The client wanted a low maintenance space for exercise and relaxation. We replaced dated surfaces with bespoke porcelain pool coping and paving. The result delivered a clean, durable and contemporary finish.

.

Project Brief

The client requested a modern upgrade using porcelain pool coping tiles. They wanted improved safety, reduced upkeep and a brighter layout, using bespoke pool coping to frame the pool. The final goal was a sleek, long lasting indoor space.

Materials & Specs

Prestige Pools specified Premio Perla for the main porcelain pool paving. We paired it with grey porcelain for the porcelain swimming pool coping stones to create a defined contrast and a crisp pool edge.

Premio Grey and Premio Perla were chosen for their low porosity, durability and low maintenance. Additionally, these porcelain tiles offer excellent slip resistance for safer poolside areas. Furthermore, their colourfast surface retains its appearance over time. As a result, they perform exceptionally well around pools. They also withstand exposure to pool chemicals without compromising quality. Choose from our porcelain paving collection to create your bespoke pool coping.

For edges, our bespoke service was used to create bullnose porcelain swimming pool coping stones. We also created right-angle corners from full slabs to achieve sharp, geometric detailing.

Importantly, porcelain pool coping tiles require no sealing; this reduces long-term maintenance.

Installation Process

The existing coping and paving was removed first, before creating a stable sub-base and screed. Levels and drainage falls were carefully set.

Bespoke pool coping was installed before laying the surround, to ensure alignment and clean edges. A flexible adhesive was used for strong bonding.  The bespoke coping allowed joints to remain tight and consistent throughout. A gentle fall away from the pool was built-in for drainage. This prevents standing water and improves safety.

Finally, the coping and paving was grouted with a polymer-modified grout for durability and water resistance. Lastly, the project area was cleaned and fully inspected to ensure a sharp, level and consistent finish.

Before & After

Previously, the pool area looked dated and uneven, and it required frequent maintenance.

Now, the space features modern porcelain pool paving with stunning contrasting pool coping. The darker coping gives the pool clear definition, while the lighter surround brightens the area. The result is safer, cleaner and visually refined.

Porcelain Pool Paving – Cons

  • Higher initial cost than some materials
