A Contemporary Swimming Pool Project With Contrasting Porcelain Coping’s

Simplicity and modernity where the objectives with this bespoke swimming pool project.

By replacing the existing dated copings and paving the client was looking to achieve a contemporary, low maintenance space to exercise and relax.

The material of choice was our Premio Perla and Premio Grey Porcelain. Used in conjunction to create a design with a contrasting darker coping and lighter pool surround.

In recent years, porcelain paving has gained significant traction as a popular choice for swimming pool refurbishment projects. Its durability, aesthetics, and low maintenance make it an attractive option for swimming pool renovations.

Advantages of Porcelain Paving for Swimming Pool Refurbishment:

  1. Durability: Porcelain paving is renowned for its exceptional durability. It is highly resistant to scratches, stains, and fading, making it an ideal material for poolside areas subjected to  exposure to water and chemicals.
  2. Non-Slip Surface: Safety is paramount in swimming pool areas. Porcelain paving typically features textured surfaces that offer excellent slip resistance, even when wet. This property enhances safety around the pool, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
  3. Aesthetic Appeal: Porcelain paving comes in a wide array of colors, patterns, and finishes, allowing for versatile design options. Whether aiming for a sleek modern look or a more traditional aesthetic, there are porcelain pavers to suit every style preference.
  4. Low Maintenance: Unlike natural stone or wood decking, porcelain paving requires minimal maintenance. It is easy to clean and does not require sealing or special treatments to maintain its appearance. This characteristic translates to long-term cost savings and hassle-free upkeep for pool owners.

With the help of Prestige Swimming pools we created a bespoke set of coping stones from the clients chosen tile. Our bespoke masonry services allow you to create a design of any shape or size.

This client opted for the use of a darker colour tile for the bullnosed coping and lighter for the surrounding paving. The client also selected a right angle corner coping created from a larger full size slab which gives crisp, geometric edges to the pool corners.

The choice of colour can be overwhelming with so many types of porcelain available. However you can summarise into categories.

  1. Natural Aesthetics: Mimicking the look of natural stone, wood, or concrete, modern porcelain paving can embrace organic textures and earthy tones. For instance our Heritage Oro Porcelain.
  2. Large Format Tiles: The use of large format porcelain tiles is a prevailing trend in contemporary pool design, offering a seamless and visually expansive surface with fewer grout lines. These oversized tiles create a sense of continuity and modernity and are particularly suited to large projects. For instance our Docks Grigio Porcelain.
  3. Monochromatic Palettes: Minimalistic colour schemes featuring shades of grey,  charcoal are favoured for their timeless elegance and versatility. Monochromatic porcelain paving provides a neutral backdrop for outdoor furnishings and landscaping elements. For instance our Modena Silver Porcelain.
  4. Pure Whites:  Lighter coloured porcelain paving exudes sophistication and purity. White surfaces reflect sunlight, brightening the pool area and creating a clean ambiance reminiscent of luxury resorts and Mediterranean villas. For instance our Premio Perla Porcelain.
